Job Title: Welfare Officer

The Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan (AKHS, P) is seeking an experienced Welfare Officer, reporting to the Manager Finance.

Summary of the Role

The Welfare Officer is responsible for supporting the effective implementation and administration of the Patient Welfare
Program in Gilgit Baltistan. The role involves conducting interviews with patients and their attendants, collecting required documentation, completing welfare assessments, maintaining case records, and conducting necessary follow-ups to facilitate timely processing of welfare cases. The position will ensure proper documentation and coordination with relevant teams while
maintaining confidentiality, transparency, and accountability in the welfare process.

Roles And Responsibilities

  • Conducts interviews with patients and their attendants to assess their eligibility and welfare requirements.
  • Collects and verifies the required supporting documents from patients and attendants.
  • Completes and maintains patient welfare application and case files in accordance with the applicable process.
    Carries out the required assessment of welfare cases and documents the assessment and recommendations.
  • Conducts follow-ups with patients, attendants, and relevant stakeholders to ensure timely processing and closure of welfare
    cases.
  • Maintains appropriate records and provides periodic updates and reports on welfare cases and program activities.
    Coordinates with the relevant finance and operational teams to facilitate the effective implementation of the Patient Welfare
    Program.
  • Ensures effective coordination with patients, attendants, finance, and other relevant departments to facilitate the smooth
    implementation of the Patient Welfare Program.
  • Maintain timely communication and follow-up with relevant stakeholders to
    address welfare-related matters and ensure appropriate and timely action on patient welfare cases.
  • Perform any other tasks as assigned by the Line Manager.

Required Skills

Skills And Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field Master’s degree will be preferred
  • Minimum 1-2 years of relevant experience in patient welfare, social services, financial counselling, community development, or related field, preferably within a healthcare, NGO, or donor-funded organization.
  • Relevant experience in patient welfare, social work, community services, counselling, or a similar role will be preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in assessing financial and social needs of patients/beneficiaries and facilitating appropriate welfare or financial assistance in accordance with established policies and criteria.
  • Experience in reviewing supporting documents, maintaining accurate welfare records, and ensuring proper documentation and patients and their attendants. utilization of welfare funds.
  • Proven experience in coordinating with patients, families, healthcare providers, finance teams, and welfare committees to
    facilitate timely and appropriate assistance.
  • Experience in monitoring welfare cases, preparing reports, maintaining confidentiality, and ensuring compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and applicable donor requirements.
  • Good understanding of documentation, assessment and case management processes
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact professionally and empathetically with patients and their attendants
  •  Good coordination and follow-up skills with the ability to work effectively with patients, attendants, and internal departments
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office and maintaining electronic records.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, attention to detail, and commitment to organizational values
