Job Summary

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Design, deliver, and evaluate barista training programs for new and existing employees.

  • Train staff in coffee preparation techniques, espresso extraction, milk steaming, latte art, and beverage presentation.
  • Demonstrate proper use, cleaning, and maintenance of coffee machines, grinders, and other café equipment.
  • Educate trainees on coffee beans, brewing methods, beverage recipes, and product knowledge.
  • Train employees on food safety, hygiene, sanitation, and workplace health and safety standards.
  • Assess trainees' performance through practical demonstrations, observations, and evaluations.
  • Provide coaching, feedback, and ongoing support to improve technical and customer service skills.
  • Ensure all baristas consistently follow company recipes, quality standards, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Develop and update training materials, manuals, and instructional resources.
  • Monitor operational performance and identify additional training needs.
  • Collaborate with café managers to improve service quality and team performance.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, new brewing techniques, and specialty coffee practices.
  • Maintain accurate training records and prepare progress reports.

 

Required Skills

Skills and Qualification:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; a diploma or certification in Hospitality, Food & Beverage, or Coffee Training is preferred.
  • Previous experience as a Barista, Senior Barista, or Barista Trainer.
  • Strong knowledge of specialty coffee, espresso-based beverages, brewing methods, and café operations.
  • Professional barista certifications are an advantage.
