Technician, Operating Room @ The Aga Khan University Hospital

Job Summary

You will be expected to:

• Receive and correctly identify for surgical procedures
• Check patients scheduled for surgery in the Operating Room and ensure proper take over of patients’ files
• Complete all per-operative documentation pertaining to patient’s surgery
• Ensure that all specimens are removed during surgery, correctly labeled and dispatched for necessary investigation as advised by the surgeon
• Scrub for designated cases while displaying competence for different areas as per the scope of services of the hospital
• Assists in the safe transportation of patients before and after surgery
• Timely report of any problem with equipment to the concerned for rectification
• Assist in preoperative patient preparation and coordinate with the scheduler in the smooth running of the OR list. 

Required Skills

You should have:

• A Matriculation with pre-medical background and Intermediate in any discipline
• Completed Diploma in OT Technician from a reputable institution
• Preferably one year of relevant  experience
• Good understanding of basic anatomy / physiology and OR terminologies, and ability to identify surgical instruments
• Good understanding of sterilization and disinfection procedures
• Good communication skills and ability to handle work pressure
• Willingness to work in shift duties and at different locations.
