Job Summary

You will be overall in charge of the Female Hostel. You will ensure discipline and upkeep in the hostel. In the execution of your duties, you will be assisted by a housekeeper, house boy and a security guard. You may be required to perform housemother duty in rotation at the on-campus hostel when students residing in the hostel are on long leave.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • assisting the Manager Female Hostels in looking after off-campus female hostel and supervising overall activities of the hostel
  • taking care of female students residing in the female hostel and resolving their day-to-day issues
  • ensuring that the hostel environment is academically conducive, socially healthy and disciplined
  • ensuring that overall hostel premises are kept in a neat and clean state
  • ensuring that no unauthorized person enters within the hostel premises, students do not leave hostel premises without informing, and in and out timings are recorded in the book
  • ensuring that hostel facilities are not misused/ damaged 
  • keeping record of daily activities/events and any incidents in the hostel 
  • keeping record of all complaints made by students and following up with the off-campus coordinator for corrective measures
  • maintaining an updated record of hostel occupancy.

Required Skills

An ideal candidate must  have: 

  • at least Intermediate. Graduates will be preferred
  • 5-7 years of working experience in an administrative position, having a supervisory role in the hospitality industry or hostels, and an academic environment experience will be considered an advantage
  • understanding of and ability to communicate with young people with diverse backgrounds
  • high level of tolerance and a calm disposition to be able to deal with difficult and challenging people
  • good listening skills and ability to establish a positive rapport with students
  • good administrative and organizational skills and ability to resolve administrative problems
  • handling workload and meeting timelines under pressure
  • good public dealing ability
  • ability to use a computer and commonly use software like MS Office, internet etc.
  • ability to handle shift work and perform extra duties as and when required.
