Job Summary

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Independently review, check, and verify structural analysis, design calculations, models, and drawings prepared by external Structural Consultants.
  • Ensure structural designs comply with the prevailing Building Code of Pakistan (BCP), IBC, ACI, ASCE, and other applicable structural and seismic codes/standards.
  • Independently perform structural analysis and model verification using ETABS, SAFE, SAP2000, or equivalent structural design software.
  • Review and verify the design of key structural elements, including foundations, columns, beams, slabs, shear walls, retaining walls, and steel structures.
  • Possess strong working knowledge of structural detailing and coordinate/follow up with CAD Technicians for preparation and finalization of structural drawings.
  • Verify dead, live, seismic, wind, snow loads and applicable load combinations, particularly considering the seismic and climatic conditions of the Program Area.
  • Review structural designs for safety, constructability, economy, and optimization, and recommend appropriate value-engineering solutions.
  • Review geotechnical/soil investigation reports and ensure that appropriate foundation systems and design parameters are incorporated into the structural design.
  • Coordinate with Structural Consultants, Architects, and field implementation teams to resolve structural design issues, discrepancies, RFIs, and site-related technical queries.
  • Conduct site visits, particularly within GBC, as required to verify critical structural works and their compliance with approved structural drawings and specifications.
  • Practical knowledge and previous structural design experience in the GBC region, particularly in seismic and challenging terrain conditions, will be considered an added advantage.
  • Provide timely technical support to field implementation teams across all programme areas and ensure effective resolution of structural RFIs and design-related issues.

Required Skills

Skills and Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.E./B.Sc.) in Civil Engineering from a recognized university; a Master’s degree (M.E./M.Sc.) in Structural Engineering will be an added advantage.
  • 5–7 years of relevant professional experience in structural engineering, preferably with a reputable engineering consultancy, design firm, or multidisciplinary engineering organization.
  • Proven experience in structural analysis, design, design review, technical verification, and structural detailing for building and infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in reviewing structural designs prepared by external consultants and providing technical comments, recommendations, and design verification.
  • Experience with structural design in seismic and challenging terrain conditions will be an advantage, particularly experience in Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral.
  • Experience in coordinating with consultants, architects, CAD/drafting teams, contractors, and field implementation teams.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABBILITES:

  • Strong knowledge of structural analysis and design principles, applicable BCP, IBC, ACI, ASCE 7, seismic codes, and relevant engineering standards.
