Job Summary

The Aga Khan University was found in 1983 as Pakistan’s first private university, Aga Khan University is a not-for-profit institution and an agency of the Aga Khan Development Network. Starting in 2000, the University expanded to Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, United Kingdom and Afghanistan. AKU began life as a health-sciences university.

 Aga Khan University Examination Board is a Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education that offers qualifications in both English and Urdu. AKU-EB's primary purpose is to improve the quality of education. It achieves this by making examinations of reputable standard more accessible to Pakistani students so that AKU-EB qualifications are increasingly valued by leading higher education institutions within and outside the country.

 The Examination Board was established by Aga Khan University in August 2003 in accordance with Ordinance CXIV of the Government of Pakistan to offer examination services for both Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC).

Responsibilities

You will be responsible to:

• develop quality items of Mathematics
• participate and contribute in item review sessions
• develop quality exam papers of Mathematics
• actively participate in the development of syllabi, teaching materials, and reports for subjects in Mathematics
• actively participate in design/ conduct of workshops in Mathematics for teachers and students as part of AKU-EB’s workshop program for schools
• actively participate in the development of middle school projects in Mathematics
• actively participate in conduct of exams
• publish research work as co-author in at least 1 paper per year
• complete any official task assigned by the supervisors.

Required Skills

• BS/ MBA/ M.Com./ MS in Mathematics subjects  
• 3 to 5 years of teaching Mathematics at SSC and HSSC levels
• an excellent understanding of / background of Mathematics subject at the secondary and higher secondary level
• knowledge of content
• skills for being a team player in all relevant activities
• initiative in workshops, classroom observation, research, e-marking and conduct of exams
• mentorship skills
• fluency in Urdu and English; exceptional command of written and spoken English
• attention to detail
• commitment to working with a very talented academic staff in the curriculum and exam preparation area
• understanding of how exams can test critical thinking and reasoning skills in students
• unwavering commitment to the highest quality and integrity in all aspects of one’s work
• an eagerness to learn about the work of the AKU-EB.
