Job Summary
SJDA is seeking applications for the position of Finance Officer/ Senior Finance Officer currently based in the Southern Region with relevant qualifications, skills, and experience.
The overall responsibility of this position will be to manage all finance-related functions and support loan recovery activities of the Poverty Elimination program in the Southern Region. The Finance Officer will coordinate and manage financial operations at the regional level and facilitate effective loan disbursement and support in recovery of the program by sending them the data. The position will report to the Manager Finance and to the Program Team where needed.
Role and Responsibilities
- The Finance Officer will be responsible for performing the following functions related to the program:
Financial Management
- Coordinate and manage day-to-day finance operations at the regional level.
Ensure that after receiving the Release of Payments (RoPs), all supporting documents (bills, invoices, purchase orders) are properly attached, verified, and approved as per the approved
Authority Matrix.
- Prepare all payment, receipt, and journal vouchers after thorough review of supporting documentation in a timely manner.
- Ensure timely adjustment of advances and receivables.
- Prepare daily cash reports and monthly bank reconciliations.
- Maintain and timely update the Fixed Asset Register.
- Ensure timely payment disbursements to the beneficiaries and vendors.
- Coordinate with regions and send letters to the banks for timely loan disbursements.
- Ensure proper recording, filing, and safeguarding of financial documents.
- Ensure all vouchers are duly signed as per the approved Authority Matrix.
- Assist internal and external auditors during audits.
- Assist in annual budget and planning activities.
- Coordinate with Head Office and relevant banks for timely release of funds.
Loan Recovery & Financial Tracking
- Coordinate with banks for the provision of recoverable grants/loans to beneficiaries.
- Coordinate closely with banks, program staff, and beneficiaries to ensure timely loan recoveries.
Develop and implement a systematic tracking system for all economic/loan cases for reporting and management use.
Other Duties
- Perform any other task assigned by supervisors related to finance and program operations.
Required Skills
Skills:
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Data-driven mindset with strong problem-solving ability.
- Budgeting and Planning experience will be an added advantage.
- Ability to build effective working relationships with internal teams, supervisors, service providers, and beneficiaries.
- Basic knowledge of taxation will be an advantage.
- Proficiency in MS Office and hands-on experience with ERP systems.
- Willingness to work beyond normal working hours and travel frequently.
- Ability to maintain a positive and professional office culture.
Language Proficiency
- Strong communication skills in English and Urdu (written and verbal).
Qualification
Master’s degree (16 years of education) from an HEC-recognized institution in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
Professional Experience
- Minimum 03 years of relevant experience in a finance-focused role.
- Experience working in the Southern Region will be an added advantage.
Travel Requirement
- Frequent travel within and across the region.
- Flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends when required.
Position Location
Karachi
The candidate can be transferred to any other location within the Region as per program requirements, on the same terms and conditions of employment.
