Senior Instructor in the Department of Paediatric & Child Health. @ The Aga Khan University Hospital

Job Summary

The Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of Senior Instructor in the Department of Paediatric & Child Health.

You will have an consultant status and will be expected to undertake undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, research and specified administrative activities along with clinical responsibilities in the patient care areas of the outreach centers .You will specifically work with your immediate supervisor to facilitate introduction of level 2 care set-up  including  standard protocol formulation and implementation for care of term ,preterm and sick newborns .You will also be expected to participate in the quality improvement and other department initiatives.You will be assigned specifics task ,clinical based across the four outreach sites. The task includes clinical work for research trials conducted in the outreach centers.

Additionally, you will be responsible to: 

• facilitate in the initiation of respiratory support and training of staff including NRP, implementation of sepsis protocol, RDS protocol etc.
• oversee the processes compliance and delivery of quality care in the neonatal units
• identify key challenges and areas of improvements and develop appropriate solutions to overcome barriers accordingly
• ensure implementation of ethical practices in research and clinical work
• remain available for any medical emergency should the need arise while on-call.

Required Skills

You must have completed a structured postgraduate training programme in Paediatrics from a reputable institution with experience of 3-4 years in in-patient and outpatient care. FCPS, FRCPCH, MRCPCH, American Boards or equivalent qualification in the relevant field. Fellowship in Neonatology or relevant experience will be considered as an added advantage.

You should be well versed in the knowledge and skills of newborn respiratory support and resuscitation as well as willing to accept any required additional/new responsibilities when and if required by study team.
