Job Summary

Overview:

The Senior Architect will report to the Project Head of the project at AKCS-P. The role involves carrying out the project documentation in coordination with the survey team, preparation of architectural design proposals, presentations item coordination and drawing. All ensuring adherence to organization policies and procedures. The project involves the restoration and adaptive reuse of a colonial structure within a heritage guest house, along with the development of a new residential block featuring a full-fledged luxury hotel facility, therefore Preference will be given to candidates with experience in both heritage conservation and hospitality sector design.

The Aga Khan Cultural Service - Pakistan (AKCS-P) is the country affiliate of the Aga Khan Trust for Culture (AKTC), the cultural agency of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN). AKCS-P is a non-profit development institution, registered in Pakistan under section 42 of the Companies Act 2017 as a non-governmental organization. AKCS-P works to improve living conditions and opportunities in developing regions, including Pakistan.

Role Summary:

The Senior Architect leads the planning, design, and execution of architectural works of the project, ensuring quality, functionality, and compliance with standards. The role involves developing design concepts, preparing detailed drawings, reviewing project progress, and providing technical guidance. Senior Architects will coordinate with consultants, and project teams.

Responsibilities:

Design Leadership

  • Lead the development of architectural concepts, design strategies, and conservation approaches for the project.

Technical Oversight & Documentation

  • Supervise the preparation of detailed drawings, design documentation, and technical specifications.
  • Ensure accuracy, quality, and consistency across all project documentation prepared by the design team.

 Project Supervision

  • Oversee project planning, implementation, and monitoring to ensure timely and quality delivery.

Team Mentorship & Capacity Building

  • Provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentorship to project architects, junior architects, and interns.

Coordination:

  • Liaise with consultants, engineers, and other regulatory authorities.

Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure all architectural works comply with building codes, heritage conservation principles, and organizational policies.
  • Maintain quality standards through regular review and approval of design outputs and construction methods.

 Strategic & Miscellaneous Duties

  • Contribute to strategic planning, project proposals, and organizational development initiatives.
  • Undertake additional architectural and managerial tasks assigned by the supervisor in support of organizational goals.

Required Skills

Requirements:

  • Postgraduate ’s degree in architecture from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 8 years of professional experience preferably in conservation of historic buildings/areas
