Job Summary

The Aga Khan University Hospital is a not-for-profit healthcare institute that offers all medical services to their patients under one roof. In addition to the tertiary care hospital in Karachi, AKUH has a network of 4 secondary care hospitals, 30+ Medical Centres, and over 290+ Clinical Laboratories, 30+ Pharmacies in over 120+ cities across Pakistan. It also offers Home Healthcare Services and home deliveries of medicines. The Hospital provides Zakat for those patients who are eligible, and the health systems offers generous Patient Welfare to support those in financial need. In recognition of its high quality and patient safety, the AKUH is accredited by the Joint Commission International (JCI) as an Academic Medical Centre and its Clinical Laboratories are accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) for fast and accurate testing.

You will be responsible to:

  • greet patients and other customers in a polite, prompt, helpful manner and provide necessary instructions/directions
  • book appointments over phone or in-person for clinics or procedures
  • use communication devices like paging system, nurse call system, panic alarm etc. as per requirements
  • place orders/update Food Services Department for changes in patients' diet and meal tray as per physician's orders
  • coordinate with the Bed Management and Admission Department regarding referral/transfer arrangements of patients as per requirement.
  • manage cash including the receipt of payments via debit/credit cards and cheques
  • maintain data and keep records of all necessary documents as per institutional guidelines
  • provide administrative support to the unit
  • ensure tidiness and cleanliness of reception area, as well as unit
  • ensure availability of all forms, slips and stationary at all times
  • provide assistance to the supervisor in the quality audits
  • assist in keeping ward manual updated
  • act as a unit coordinator whenever assigned by a manager.

Required Skills
  • a Bachelor’s degree
  • 1-2 years of front desk or customer services experience (preferred)
  • excellent customer service and communication skills
  • knowledge and proficiency in basic computer applications such as Microsoft Office
  • ability to multi-task and work effectively in a fast-paced, professional environment
  • ability to remain tactful, patient and calm in stressful situations
  • ability to problem-solve using creative and critical thinking skills
  • willing to work in COVID wards and critical patient care areas
  • willingness to work in shifts.
