Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Public Relations Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the public image of our company, building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, and implementing strategies to enhance our brand’s presence in the media. You will work closely with various departments, ensuring that our messaging is consistent and aligns with our overall business objectives.

Role and  Responsibilities:

  • Media Relations: Develop and maintain strong relationships with journalists, media outlets, and influencers to ensure positive coverage and brand visibility.
  • Press Releases & Content Creation: Write and distribute press releases, articles, speeches, and other public-facing content to communicate key messages.
  • Crisis Management: Act as a point of contact during crisis situations, managing communication with the media and the public to protect the company’s reputation.
  • Event Management: Organize and manage press conferences, media briefings, and promotional events to showcase the company’s activities and initiatives.
  • Social Media Strategy: Oversee the company’s social media presence, ensuring timely and relevant content is posted to engage with the audience and build brand awareness.
  • Brand Messaging: Ensure all communications are aligned with the company’s voice and messaging, maintaining consistency across all channels.
  • Internal Communications: Work closely with the internal team to ensure key messages are communicated effectively within the organization.
  • Market Research: Monitor public opinion and media coverage, reporting insights and trends to senior management to help shape public relations strategies.
  • Collaborate with Marketing: Work alongside the marketing team to align public relations efforts with broader marketing campaigns and goals.

Required Skills

Skills and Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field is typically required.
  • A Master’s degree in Public Relations or a similar discipline may be preferred for senior-level positions or more specialized roles.

Experience:

  • Proven experience (3+ years) in public relations, corporate communications, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute PR strategies and manage media relations effectively.
  • Experience in crisis communication and handling media during sensitive situations.
  • Event management experience (press conferences, media events, promotional activities) is often required.
  • A portfolio of successful media placements, campaigns, or press releases is a plus.

Key Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, with the ability to craft clear, concise, and compelling messages.
  • Media relations expertise with an established network of media contacts (journalists, influencers, bloggers, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms and their role in public relations and brand management.
  • Experience with digital PR tools (e.g., Cision, Meltwater, Hootsuite, or similar platforms) is a plus.
  • Crisis management skills and the ability to think quickly under pressure to maintain the organization’s reputation.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving capabilities to innovate public relations strategies.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and other communication tools.
