Job Summary

Roles And Responsibilities:

  • Participate in dialogue with communities to make them aware of the SHSCP construction methodology and their responsibility in relation to the same. Bring them to an agreement to take up their part of responsibility within the specified time frame.
  • Ascertain suitability of sites and select the suitable sites in accordance with the site selection criteria
  • Select design option as per requirement (information format will be developed); work with architect to adopt/modify the available designs, if needed.
  • Develop detailed plans (Gantt chart) along with timelines and responsibilities with respect to all activities related to the construction at each site, including costing, resource allocation and mobilization.
  • Issue all drawings required for site work to the respective engineers.
  • The construction manager to ensure proper storage and security of all materials and equipment at site and stores.
  • Arrange and provide adequate skilled labour and other related services to complete the works as per drawing and specification.
  • Visit and supervise sites to ensure that all construction requirements are fully met and that quality is maintained to the higher standard that was delivered for self-help schools.
  • Provide costing details to the Project Coordinator in advance and ensure adherence to agreed-upon cost estimates.
  • Prepare work plan and cash flow requirement based on work plans.
  • Provide all expertise and coordination required for design, engineering, supervision, and construction execution.
  • It requires regular travel to Karachi to oversee parallel projects, coordinate with project stakeholders, monitor construction progress, and ensure timely execution and alignment with project objectives.
  • Prepare financial accounting reports as per donor requirements (Every Quarter) and in time to minimize delays in reimbursement from the donor, resulting in possible cash flow problems.
  • Provide site-wise construction activity reporting including monitoring of material quantities, manpower utilization, quality of work, and progress status.
  • Prepare construction activity reports every quarter for review by the Project Coordinator.
  • Regularly monitor progress of construction and take steps to ensure that communities discharge their responsibilities in the construction of self-help schools.a

Required Skills

Skills And Qualification:

  • The ideal candidate should hold a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 18–20 years of relevant experience in the construction industry.
  • The candidate must have strong expertise in QA/QC procedures and inspection protocols, cash flow planning, and cost control.
  • They should demonstrate proven experience in monitoring and executing finishing work, along with sound knowledge of construction methods and project execution.
  • Strong communication, effective site logistics, and solid resource planning are essential to deliver projects on time, maintain quality, safety, and efficiency.
