Heritage and Urban Regeneration: Tourism Development in Lahore Fort and its Buffer

Zone", also refer red to as the "HURL" project, is a five-year project funded by the Agence Francaise de Developpement and in partnership with the Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA).

HURL contains three main components which will be implemented in parallel:

  1. Tourism, conservation, and museum works inside Lahore Fort.
  2. Urban infrastructure. conservation and tourism expansion in the Fort’s Buffer Zone
  3. Establishment of a Project Management Unit (specific to WCLA).

Required Skills

The Project Manager’ primary role is to plan, execute, and deliver the HURL project on time, within budget, and with high quality. Additionally, the HURL project has to be successful post-implementation with the goal of sustainability and effective governance structures. Responsibilities include:

  • Develop a detailed project plan, including scope, schedule, budget, resources, and risk management plan in close collaboration with Geneva Head Office (Aga Khan Historic Cities Programme, Finance, Internal Audit).
  • Manage the project team and ensure that all team members understand their roles and responsibilities.
  • Monitor project progress, identify and resolve issues, and take corrective action as needed.
  • Communicate with stakeholders, including sponsors, clients, team members, and other stakeholders, to ensure that the project meets their expectations.
  • Ensure that all project deliverables meet quality standards.

Close the project and conduct a post-project review to identify areas for improvement.
