Job Summary

Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan is looking for a seasoned and dynamic Pharmacist for its Karachi Region.

Role and  Responsibilities:

Warehouse Management

  • Keep all medicines safely as per protocols
  • Manage Karachi warehouse appropriately
  • Support in licensing process of warehouse
  • Provide assistance during audits
  • Manage supplies and order inventory accordingly
  • Keep track of requests received from health facilities across Sindh and Punjab
  • Maintain inventory for FOC items received from donors
  • Conduct physical count activities in pharmacies and share timely report
  • Any other task as assigned by management

Dispensing & Patient Care

  • Accurately dispense prescriptions according to doctor’s orders and legal requirements.
  •  Provide counseling to patients on dosage, side effects, interactions, and proper medication usage.
  • Advise patients on over the counter (OTC) medications and general health products

Inventory & Stock Management

  • Maintain stock levels and ensure availability of essential medications.
  • Monitor drug expiry dates and ensure proper removal of expired or damaged stock.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records using manual or electronic systems.
  • Place orders with suppliers and ensure timely delivery of stock.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with drug laws and pharmacy regulations.
  • Maintain and secure prescription records as per pharmacy council or government guidelines.
  • Handle and document the sale of controlled or scheduled drugs properly.

Cash and Financial Handling

  • Manage billing, receive payments, and handle daily cash and card transactions using AKHSP’s software
  • Maintain proper cash register records and reconcile cash balances at the end of the day.
  • Prepare daily sales and expense reports (if required).

Customer Service

  • Attend to customer queries professionally and courteously.
  • Handle complaints related to medication or service and escalate if necessary.
  • Build trust and long-term relationships with patients and healthcare providers.

Professional Development

  • Stay updated with new medicines, guidelines, and pharmacy practices.
  • Attend training or seminars as needed.

 

Required Skills

Qualification and Competencies:

  • Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) or D-pharmacy from a recognized institution.
  • Must possess a valid pharmacist license registered with the relevant Pharmacy Council
  • Minimum 1-2 years’ working experience of inpatient and outpatient pharmacy
  • Willing to work in different centers
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Time management & management Skills
  • Appropriately organize the workload & able to work under pressure
  • Basic to advance computer skills
  • Willing to work beyond office hours, when needed
  • May involve shift work, weekends, and public holidays
