Job Summary

Job Purpose:

To assist in the packaging of bakery products in a clean, efficient, and safe manner, ensuring that all items are packed according to quality standards, labeling requirements, and production schedules. The Packing Helper supports smooth operations of the packaging line by maintaining hygiene, assisting machine operators, and preparing finished products for dispatch.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Assist in packing bakery products (bread, buns, biscuits, cakes, etc.) as per defined packaging standards and weight requirements.

• Place products carefully into packaging materials such as trays, pouches, or cartons.
• Ensure accurate labeling, sealing, and batch coding under supervision.
• Check that the correct packaging materials are used for each product type.
• Inspect packed items for quality—checking for damages, contamination, or incorrect labeling.
• Support packing machine operators during production runs.
• Supply packaging materials (wrappers, cartons, tapes, etc.) to the line as required.
• Assist in loading and unloading packaging materials and finished goods.
• Stack packed goods properly on pallets or shelves for storage or dispatch.
• Follow instructions from the Packing Supervisor and maintain coordination with other team members.
• Maintain cleanliness in the packing area and ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.
• Use gloves, masks, and other protective gear as per company policy.
• Dispose of waste, damaged packaging, or rejected products properly.
• Follow all safety procedures to prevent accidents or contamination.
• Report any defects in products, packaging materials, or machines to the Packing Supervisor immediately.
• Keep count of daily packed quantities and assist in preparing daily production reports.
• Support in segregating defective or expired products as instructed.

Required Skills

Skills and Qualification:

• Minimum education: Matric or equivalent.
• Previous experience in packing or warehouse work preferred.
• Physically fit and able to lift heavy items if required.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
• Punctual, reliable, and willing to work in a team environment.
