Job Summary

Background: Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan (AKHS, P) runs one of the largest not-for-profit private healthcare systems in the country, with a focus on the regions of Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, and Sindh. Its core focus includes initiatives for hard-to-reach populations through services like outreach clinics, training of community midwives to provide low-cost health services in remote areas, screening for non-communicable diseases, and digital health solutions.

Position Summary: Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan is looking for a competent Outreach Clinic Doctor for the Flood Recovery and Climate Resilience (RENEW) project implement at Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral. The doctor will be responsible for delivering primary health services and general health support to individuals affected by the floods. This includes medical consultations, treatment of common illnesses, referrals and coordination and health education to prevent disease outbreaks.

Role and  Responsibilities:

Clinical Services, Outreach & Mobile Clinic Operations

  • Conduct mobile/outreach clinics in affected or cut off communities, provide ambulatory care or field hospitals where health facilities are damaged.
  • Provide basic medical consultation to affected flooded individuals for acute illnesses common in flood settings (e.g. respiratory infections, diarrhea, skin infections, malaria and injuries).
  • Manage maternal, neonatal and child health (MNCH) issues including antenatal care (ANC), postnatal care (PNC), safe delivery where feasibl e or refer appropriately.
  • Diagnose and treat non communicable diseases (e.g. hypertension, diabetes, undernutrition and mental health issues ) to avoid complications.
  • Provide preventive services: immunizations, nutrition screening, waterborne disease prevention.
  • Triage and refer severe or complicated cases to higher level health facilities. Health Promotion, Hygiene & Disease Prevention
  • Raise awareness among communities about hygiene practices, safe water, sanitation, vector control, Nutrition, IYCF practices and routin e immunization.
  • Participate in disease surveillance: reporting outbreaks, tracking symptoms in the community. Coordination & Collaboration
  • Work with other outreach teams (nurses, midwives, paramedics, psychologist) to ensure teamwork.
  • Coordinate with local health authorities, AKHS teams, community leaders for smooth operations and avoid duplication.
  • Collaborate with support staff to ensure medical supplies, medicines, and essential equipment are available and properly used. Monitoring, Reporting & Quality Assurance
  • Record patient data: number of consultations, disease breakdown, referrals, outcomes.
  • Report daily/weekly on clinic performance, challenges, and needs.
  • Follow clinical guidelines, SOPs, protocols (national or WHO/international) for outbreak settings.
  • Monitor quality of care, ensure infection prevention and control measures.

Required Skills

Qualifications & Experience:

  • MBBS with valid PMDC license
  • 2 years’ experience including house job, preferably some experience in primary health care and disaster relief.
  • Ability to work in challenging, resource limited environments
  • Ability to travel, sometimes in difficult terrain , under adverse weather, should be a team player
  • Good communication skills in local language(s); ability to liaise with communities.
  • Adequate computer skills to use digital recording
