Job Summary:

An Occupational Therapist helps individuals improve their ability to perform daily activities, work, education, and social tasks following illness, injury, disability, or developmental challenges. The therapist assesses patients’ needs and develops personalized treatment plans to improve their independence, mobility, coordination, and overall quality of life.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Assess patients’ physical, cognitive, emotional, and developmental needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized occupational therapy treatment plans.
  • Provide therapeutic exercises and activities to improve mobility, coordination, strength, and daily living skills.
  • Help patients develop or regain skills needed for dressing, eating, bathing, writing, working, and other daily activities.
  • Recommend and train patients in the use of adaptive equipment and assistive devices.
  • Monitor and document patients’ progress and modify treatment plans when required.
  • Work closely with doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, psychologists, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Educate patients and their families about therapy programs and home-based exercises.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and prepare progress reports.
  • Follow professional, ethical, and healthcare safety standards.

Required Skills

Skills and Qualification

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from a recognized institution.
  • Relevant professional registration/license, where applicable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good assessment, problem-solving, and clinical skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a patient-centered approach.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience with pediatric, neurological, orthopedic, or rehabilitation patients is an advantage.
