Job Summary

Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan is looking for a seasoned and dynamic Obstetrician-Gynecologist/ Sonographer for its Karachi Region.

Role and  Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine gynecological exams including pelvic exams, Pap smears, and breast exams.
  • Provide prenatal, antenatal, and postnatal care to pregnant patients.
  • Diagnose and treat reproductive system disorders such as menstrual irregularities, endometriosis, fibroids, and sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
  •  Provide contraceptive counseling and family planning services.
  • Monitor and manage menopausal symptoms and hormonal imbalances.
  • Evaluate and treat fertility issues; refer to fertility specialists when necessary.
  • Educate patients on reproductive health, hygiene, and preventive care.
  • Maintain accurate medical records on paper or HMIS and adhere to ethical and professional standards.

Sonography /Ultrasound Duties:

  • Conduct ultrasound scans (obstetric, pelvic, transvaginal, abdominal, etc.) independently or in collaboration with radiologists.
  • Interpret sonographic images and provide timely and accurate reports.
  • Identify fetal anomalies, monitor fetal development and wellbeing.
  • Use Doppler studies for high-risk pregnancies and gynecologic evaluations.
  • Maintain and calibrate ultrasound equipment and ensure adherence to safety and hygiene standards

Others:

  • Provide routine care to visiting patients other than gynae complains
  • Manage the patients and refer where needed
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Willing to work on rotations to different AKHSP facilities
  • Willing to work in shifts, if required
  • Offer full support to management in health service delivery

 

Required Skills

Qualification & Competencies:

  • MBBS with Doctor of Medicine / Diploma in Obstetrics & Gynaecology.
  • Diploma/Certification in Ultrasonography (recognized by appropriate medical authority).
  • Valid medical license/registration.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in OB-GYN practice, sonology experience preferred
  • Strong clinical and diagnostic skills in gynecology.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of gynecological procedures and best practices.
  • May involve rotating shifts, weekend duties Ability to work collaboratively in a healthcare team.
