Job Summary
AKES, Pakistan is seeking a dynamic, strategic, and student-centered professional to lead and strengthen its Career Counselling and Student Support Program across the network. The incumbent will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive career counselling framework, student wellbeing initiatives, life skills programs, and support systems that enable students to make informed academic and career choices. In addition to career counselling, the incumbent will provide strategic oversight of AKESP's student wellbeing programme, ensuring that schools have effective systems to support students' emotional wellbeing, resilience, life skills, and personal development. The role will guide the implementation of counselling standards, strengthen the capacity of school counsellors, and promote a safe, supportive, and nurturing learning environment across the school network.
The role will work closely with regional academic teams, school leadership, counsellors, universities, and other stakeholders to ensure students graduate with clear career pathways and the skills needed for success.
Roles And Responsibilities
- Develop and continuously enhance a strategic framework for student counselling, career guidance, life skills, and emotional wellbeing programs.
- Design and institutionalize a comprehensive career counselling program across AKES, Pakistan secondary schools.
- Develop career counselling manuals, resources, training materials, and implementation guidelines reflecting current educational and career trends.
- Create and implement student support frameworks focusing on emotional intelligence, resilience, wellbeing, and life skills development.
- Train, mentor, and support school-based student counsellors and career coordinators across regions.
- Establish monitoring, evaluation, and performance management systems to assess the effectiveness of counselling and career guidance programs.
- Develop tools and resources, including aptitude assessments, personality profiling instruments, and career exploration materials for students.
- Build and maintain partnerships with universities, professional bodies, industry representatives, and career development organizations to expand opportunities for students.
- Facilitate career awareness programs, university engagement sessions, guest speaker talks, workshops, and mentorship opportunities.
- Promote parent engagement by conducting awareness sessions on career planning, student wellbeing, emotional development, and diverse career pathways.
- Collaborate with regional academic leadership and school management teams to ensure consistent implementation of counselling and career support initiatives.
- Provide strategic leadership for student wellbeing initiatives, including emotional wellbeing, life skills, and resilience programmes.
- Support schools in implementing high-quality student counselling services and strengthening the capacity of school counsellors.
- Develop standards and monitoring mechanisms to ensure effective delivery of student wellbeing programmes.
- Undertake any other responsibilities assigned by the Head of Education.
Required Skills
Qualification And Skills
The ideal candidate should possess a master’s degree in psychology, Counselling, Education, Career Development, Human Development, or a related field, with demonstrated experience in student counselling, career guidance, education leadership, or youth development programs.
- At least 5–7 years of relevant professional experience in counselling, education, student support services, or career development.
- Strong understanding of career counselling frameworks, university admissions processes, and emerging career trends.
- Experience in program design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.
- Excellent communication, presentation, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proven ability to develop training materials and deliver capacity-building programs.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, teachers, school leaders, and external partners.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in Urdu will be an added advantage.
- Ability to travel nationwide as required.
