Job Summary

Background: Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan (AKHS, P) runs one of the largest not-for-profit private healthcare systems in the country, with a focus on the regions of Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, and Sindh. Its core focus includes initiatives for hard-to-reach populations through services like outreach clinics, training of community midwives to provide low-cost health services in remote areas, screening for non-communicable diseases, and digital health solutions.

Position Summary: The Medical Officer will be responsible for providing comprehensive medical care to patients, including diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up. The incumbent will ensure the highest standards of clinical practice and patient safety, and actively contribute to preventive and promotive health activities within the facility.

Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan is looking for a competent Medical Officer base at CHC Aliabad, Hunza.

Role and  Responsibilities:

  • Examine, diagnose, and treat patients according to standard clinical protocols.
  • Provide emergency and routine medical care in outpatient and inpatient settings.
  • Prescribe medications and treatments in line with approved guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient medical records.
  • Refer patients to specialists or higher-level care facilities as required.
  • Assist in implementing preventive healthcare measures and health education programs.
  • Participate in medical rounds, case discussions, and clinical meetings.
  • Ensure proper documentation and reporting of clinical activities.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, clinical audits, and case reviews.
  • Contribute to maintaining medicine inventory and rational drug use.
  • Support implementation of healthcare quality standards and infection control measures.
  • Support senior medical staff and specialists in clinical procedures when needed.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Medical Superintendent or Head of Department.
  • The medical officers should be prepared to undertake duties outside of regular working hours when required including during staff shortage or as per service needs
  • Provide technical support and on-job mentoring to paramedical and nursing staff.
  • Participate in continuous medical education (CME) and training sessions.

Required Skills

Qualifications & Experience:

  • MBBS degree from a recognized institution, with Valid Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC)registration
  • Minimum 1 year (House job) at a reputable healthcare institution.
  • Should have an aptitude for working in a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills
  • Ability to handle medical emergencies effectively
  • Ability to work under pressure and in rotational shifts
  • Team working skills
  • Good decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Good time management
  • Good communication and team building skills
