Job Summary

Job Role / Responsibilities:

The Manager, Volunteer Services will be responsible for the strategic development, implementation, and management of volunteer programs. This includes recruiting, training, and supervising volunteers, as well as fostering relationships with various departments to identify volunteer opportunities that support AKU’s goals.

  • Develop, implement, and oversee volunteer program that align with AKU’s mission and objectives.
  • Identify and create volunteer opportunities in collaboration with various departments.
  • Establish and maintain volunteer policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Identify, recruit, and onboard volunteers to meet the requirements of various departments at AKU.
  • Design and deliver orientation and training programs for volunteers to ensure they are well-prepared and informed about their roles.
  • Develop ongoing training and development opportunities for volunteers.
  • Provide overall supervision and support to volunteers, visiting departments where they are working, interacting with their supervisors, and addressing any issues or problems.
  • Ensure that the volunteers comply with AKU’s Code of Conduct, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure that up-to-date records of volunteers are maintained, including work schedules, transfers, transport needs, meal provisions, and hours worked.
  • Motivate volunteers to perform at their optimum and effectively contribute to AKU and departmental objectives.
  • Arrange training and motivational sessions for volunteers.
  • Develop and implement a system for monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness and impact of volunteer program.
  • Collect and analyze data on volunteer activities and provide regular reports to senior management.
  • Use feedback from volunteers and stakeholders to continuously improve volunteer programs.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with volunteers, staff, and stakeholders.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all volunteer-related inquiries and issues.
  • Represent the Volunteer Services department in meetings and events as requested.
  • Carry out correspondence related to volunteers and other activities of the Volunteer Services Department.
  • Ensure compliance with AKU’s Code of Conduct, policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a stock register for Gold and Diamond pins for appreciation events.
  • Monitor and collect receivables from volunteers against transport dues and smock charges.
  • Regularly update training material and resources for volunteers.

Required Skills

Eligibility Criteria / Requirements:

  • Master’s degree, preferably in Business Administration or a related field from a recognized institute.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in volunteer management or a related field.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to diplomatically handle difficult/sensitive issues and maintain confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with volunteer management software.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and work under pressure.
