Job Role / Responsibilities:
We are looking for an experienced Transport Manager to join the team!
As a Transport Manager, you will be responsible to lead the entire Transport Services for AKU Pakistan. You would be expected to lead a team of over 75 staff members (mix of regular and outsourced workers, administrative support, supervisors, and management staff) and to manage and smoothly run the operations of over 350 Institution’s vehicles. You should be familiar to handle the highly customer-oriented services, including planning, development and implementation of policies, processes, and service delivery. You would be required to ensure that the transport related services are always available, reliable, efficient, and effective that meets the needs and expectation of all AKU internal customers. Ensure provision of pool vehicles for all staff members for their official business meetings, visits, other duties and appropriate arrangements are made for pick n drop for clinical and non-clinical staff as per Institution’s guidelines.
The successful candidate will report to Director, Administrative Services.
Other responsibilities will include:
- develop strategic policies and programs for effective and efficient transport services
- manage a fleet of over 350 pool / Institution vehicles and arrangement of over 300-500 contractual vehicles according to the Institution business needs
- handle and oversee the transport arrangements for all official business meetings, visits, workshops, staff pick n drop, and ensure provision of services are available to all AKU units, research programs and sites across country
- work with Leadership and Senior Management to provide operational and management support for all transport services
- prepare and monitor transport budget and ensure to stay within the budget
- prepare and implement a robust plan for regular inspection of all capital assets health, diagnose issues, apply techniques for regular maintenacne and propose replacements, as and when required
- ensure to record and manage track of all transport services related requests, contracts, complains, and activities using appropriate MIS tools and data base systems
- negotiate and finalize corporate rate agreements with different transport service providers through market research, personalized meetings
- processing of invoices and ensure compliance through checking and processing of invoices as per approval matrix, policies and procedures
- provide immediate support to resolve any problems / issues by remaining within institutional protocol and policies
- deal with customer enquiries and meet their expectations
- implement alternative and innovative ideas for customer satisfaction.
Required Skills
- Master’s Degree preferably in Management or Administrative Sciences from a reputable institute.
- at least eight years of relevant experience in transport/fleet management system with medium to large-sized organization
- approachable personality with good analytical and negotiations skills
- excellent communication skills
- ability to handle difficult clients / customers
- be proficient with computer having ability to generate and analyze various MIS reports, keep track of trends, data management, and preparing reports for senior management / leadership.
