BACKGROUND OF THE COMPANY: 

Northern Pakistan Energy Limited (NPAK) is registered under the Companies Act, 2017 (XIX of 2017). The principal line of business of the company is to carry on all or any of the businesses of generating, purchasing, importing, transforming, converting, distributing, supplying, exporting and dealing in electricity and all other forms of energy and products or services associated therewith and of promoting the conservation and efficient use of electricity and to perform all other acts which are necessary or incidental to the business of electricity generation, transmission, distribution and supply. NPak Energy is coming under the AKDN/AKFED’s IPS Pakistan, wherein these two are the shareholders of the NPak Energy Limited.

 

European Union provided grant for Energy Plus: Energy for Climate Resilience in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and Upper/Lower Chitral districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) to set an action. The overall objective of this action is to foster a climate resilient low-carbon economy and society in Gilgit Baltistan and Chitral.

This position is within the Energy Plus of NPAK, Pakistan and the incumbent will report to the Project Manager in respect of development activities and to CEO NPAK in respect of commercial and operational matters. The incumbent will work in close coordination with the relevant company development & operational teams across the region and will provide technical leadership to develop frameworks, plans and indicators to capture NPAK performance results and undertake effective, accurate and timely completion of project activities and routine operations. The T&D Manager will ensure that lessons learned are integrated into programme implementation to continuously improve quality and quantity of electricity.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Supervision of rehabilitation and optimization of Transmission & Distribution Networks, Grids & Sub-stations operations, inter-connections, interfacing etc.
  • Assisting the Utility Operation Team and Management in Commercial and Technical perspectives
  • Maintaining the new & existing assets inventory in most managerial stocking conditions
  • Ensure that the generated energy is delivered to the distribution networks in the most efficient, reliable and convenient manner, by the agreed load distribution plans;
  • Conducts technical management of repair, maintenance and reconstruction of transmission networks that are on the balance sheet of the NPAK, supervises the work and monitors its implementation;
  • Develop long terms and annual schedules for capital repairs and maintenance, and measures to improve the reliability of transmission networks and substations;
  • Together with the Project Implementation Unit (PIU) and the relevant technical services, ensuring the quality and timing of work on the Project, including the adopted new technical capacities, and carrying out repair and rehabilitation work;
  • Participate in the preparation of TORs for the PIU energy projects;
  • Manages the work to determine the technical condition of Transmission networks;
  • Controls the quality of construction and installation work and participates in the acceptance into operation of new and repaired lines and substations;
  • Participates in the preparation and revision of job and production instructions for the repair and maintenance of the line and substation;
  • Participates in the work of the commission to test the knowledge of Safety, Fire and Technical Operation Rules, and production instructions of the personnel of the transmission networks department;
  • Participates in inspections of the Occupational Safety and Health conditions at the facilities of the transmission networks department, compliance by employees with technical operation rules, provisions, and requirements of job and production instructions;
  • Ensuring timely amendments to the design and estimate documentation caused by the introduction of new local standards, prices, price lists, rates, and their approval by the company management;
  • Providing technical supervision over the quality and timing of commissioning of construction projects.
  • Coordination with design organizations of changes in design solutions, replacement of outdated equipment, structures and materials;
  • Development, coordination with the contractor and presentation to management of a set of works on objects for the planned period;
  • Monitoring the compliance of the actually completed volumes of construction and installation work with design and estimate documentation and approved schedules. Coordination and preparation of documentation for launch complexes with interested organizations;
  • Participation in the work of state commissions for commissioning construction projects, compiling a list of deficiencies and defects, monitoring the elimination;
  • Checking the availability of passports, results of laboratory tests, and materials and structures tests. Participation in examination and registration acts of hidden and special works;
  • Ensuring timely execution of the orders, instructions, and documents, submitted to the department.

Required Skills

Skills and Qualification:

  • Master’s/Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum overall 7 years of experience with 4 years in T&D construction, supervisor, operations etc.;
  • Ability to systematically analyze complex problems, draw relevant conclusions, and implement appropriate solutions to problem-solving processes;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Urdu and English.
  • Strong organizational and analytical Skills;
  • Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous reports to management and other stakeholders;
  • Ability to comprehend, analyze and interpret complex documents;
  • Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations.

OTHER SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, Outlook and Software related to T&D networks analysis, Demand & Supply Analysis, Utility Operations etc.
  • Working Knowledge of Database Reporting and Platform Manipulation
