Job Summary

Support the budget management process for Institutions, Legal Entities, and Service Companies, including assisting in the completion of annual and supplementary budget cycles as per the approved plan.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain regular communication with institutional finance teams and other stakeholders to support relationship building and timely flow of information.
  • Assist in processing and reconciling grant disbursements to institutions, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely follow-up of outstanding items.
  • Conduct initial due-diligence reviews of budgets, fundraising initiatives, major investments, CAPEX proposals, and new programme submissions, and prepare analysis and recommendations for review by the Head of Department and DJI.
  • Support analysis for funding allocations by preparing comparative reviews, justifications, and scenario analyses, and assist in communicating recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Assist in financial planning activities, including data consolidation for accounting, financial controls, reporting, variance analysis, and supporting implementation or upgrades of financial software.
  • Monitor expenditures and prepare forecasts by analyzing monthly/quarterly cash requests and highlighting issues or trends to the management.
  • Support reviews of internal controls, policies, regulatory compliance, and risk management practices, and assist in drafting recommendations for improvements.

This role is well-suited for a detail-oriented self-starter who is willing to learn, work hard, and contribute directly to the team’s outputs.

Required Skills

Skills and Qualification:

  • ACCA/CIMA/ICMA or MBA (Finance/Accounting) from a recognized institution.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in finance and administration, preferably in the development sector.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks).
  • Has a flexible schedule to accommodate a non-traditional work-load, including working evenings and/or weekends.
  • Ability to converse and write effectively in English, especially report writing and presentation skills.
  • Strong Interpersonal skills to be able to build excellent working relations with stakeholders and team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to details.
  • Strong attention to detail, number-crunching ability, and integrity in handling financial data.
  • Excellent organizational, follow-up, and problem-solving skills; ability to manage competing priorities.
