Installation: Assisting in the assembly and installation of new elevators/escalators, ensuring compliance with manufacturer specifications and safety codes.
Preventive Maintenance: Conducting scheduled inspections, lubrication, alignment checks, and component testing to ensure smooth operation.
Repairs: Diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults (e.g., door malfunctions, brake failures, control system issues) and performing necessary repairs.
Emergency Callouts: Responding promptly to breakdowns or trapped-passenger situations to restore functionality safely.
Safety Compliance: Ensuring all work adheres to local regulations (e.g., OSHA, EN 81, ASME A17.1) and manufacturer guidelines.
Documentation: Maintaining service logs, inspection reports, and parts inventory.
Customer Interaction: Explaining issues and repairs to clients or building managers professionally.
Perform routine inspections (monthly/quarterly) as per maintenance contracts.
Replace worn components (e.g., cables, rollers, bearings, buttons) before failure occurs.
Test safety devices (governors, buffers, door sensors, emergency brakes).
Coordinate with manufacturers or OEMs for specialized parts or software updates.
Train junior technicians or apprentices under supervision.
Certification:
Licensed elevator technician (where applicable).
Training in electrical/mechanical systems (e.g., NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
Experience:
3+ years in lift/escalator maintenance, repair, or installation.
Familiarity with traction, hydraulic, and machine-room-less (MRL) elevators.
Technical Knowledge:
Understanding of control systems (relay-based, microprocessor, VVVF drives).
Ability to read electrical schematics and hydraulic diagrams.
Safety Awareness:
Competency in lockout/tagout (LOTO), fall protection, and confined space entry.
Tools & Equipment:
Proficiency with multimeters, dynamometers, alignment tools, and hydraulic jacks.
