Job Summary

The Principles of Economics/Principles of Commerce Teacher is responsible for creating a dynamic, student-centered, and academically rigorous classroom environment that promotes deep understanding of Economics and Commerce concepts. The teacher will deliver structured lessons that integrate financial literacy, entrepreneurial thinking, and real-world applications of economic principles. Through innovative teaching methods and collaborative learning experiences, the teacher will foster critical thinking, analytical skills, and a strong foundation in business studies.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Deliver well-planned, engaging lessons in Economics and Commerce, aligned with the curriculum.
  • Foster independent learning, critical thinking, and real-world application of economic concepts.
  • Use hands-on activities, problem-solving tasks, and technology to enhance student learning.
  • Design assessments aligned with AKUEB standards and provide timely, constructive feedback.
  • Promote student participation in competitions and collaborative group work.
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, punctuality, and adherence to school policies.
  • Model ethical behavior, empathy, and respect for diversity in all student interactions.

Required Skills

Skills and Qualification:

  • Minimum Master’s degree in Economics, Commerce, or Finance or a professional qualification such as ACCA, ICMA, or CIMA.
  • 2–3 years of teaching experience in Commerce or Economics at the secondary level.
  • Strong classroom management skills and effective verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to design and implement interactive, practical, and inquiry-based lessons.
  • Familiarity with current economic issues, business trends, and secondary school curriculum standards.
  • Passion for teaching and fostering financial and economic literacy among students
