Job Summary
A Kitchen Department team member is responsible for supporting food preparation, maintaining kitchen cleanliness and hygiene, assisting cooks and chefs, and ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the kitchen.
Roles And Responsibilities:
- Assist cooks and chefs with food preparation and kitchen activities.
- Wash, cut, chop, peel, and prepare ingredients as required.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of kitchen areas, utensils, and equipment.
- Assist with receiving, checking, storing, and organizing food supplies.
- Ensure food items are properly stored and handled to maintain freshness and quality.
- Support the preparation and timely service of meals.
- Clean dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment.
- Follow food safety, hygiene, and sanitation procedures.
- Minimize food wastage and use supplies responsibly.
- Report damaged equipment, low stock, or food safety concerns to the supervisor.
- Maintain proper organization of refrigerators, storage areas, and workstations.
- Assist with kitchen setup and closing duties.
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Kitchen Supervisor or management.
Required Skills
Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum high school education or relevant qualification.
- Previous experience in a kitchen, restaurant, hotel, cafeteria, or catering environment is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of food preparation and kitchen operations.
- Knowledge of food hygiene, sanitation, and safe food-handling practices.
- Ability to follow instructions, recipes, and safety procedures.
- Good teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a busy kitchen environment.
- Good time-management and organizational skills.
- Physically fit and able to stand for extended periods.
- Responsible, punctual, disciplined, and willing to learn.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, weekends, and holidays when required
