In this role, you will evaluate risk, analyze financial data, and help make critical decisions on whether to accept or reject applications. Role and Responsibilities

Risk Assessment & Analysis

  • Review and analyze insurance applications to determine the degree of risk involved.
  • Scrutinize financial statements and background information to spot "red flags" or inconsistencies.
  • Apply critical thinking to calculate potential exposure and recommend appropriate premiums or terms.

Decision Making & Problem Solving

  • Assist senior underwriters in making data-backed decisions on complex cases.
  • Solve problems by finding ways to structure deals that might be risky but profitable (within guidelines).
  • Ensure all decisions comply with company policies and regulatory standards.

Communication & Documentation

  • Communicate clearly with brokers, agents, or internal sales teams to explain the rationale behind underwriting decisions.
  • Prepare clear, concise reports summarizing risk factors for management review.
  • Maintain accurate records of all policies and decisions for audit purposes.

Required Skills
  • Analytical Mindset: You must be comfortable working with numbers, ratios, and data trends.
  • Critical Thinking: The ability to look beyond the surface of an application and ask "What could go wrong?"
  • Communication: You need to be able to say "No" or "Yes" diplomatically and back it up with logic.
  • Tech Savvy: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (specifically Excel) is required for data modeling.
