About NPAK Energy

Northern Pakistan Energy Limited, a subsidiary of the Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development's Industrial Promotion Services (IPS), operates under a 30-year Concession Agreement signed with the Government of Gilgit-Baltistan. NPAK Energy is developing the energy system to supply clean, reliable, and affordable electricity in District Hunza and to demonstrate the applicability of a regionally proven integrated utility model in Pakistan.

The Position

NPAK Energy is launching a new billing system that automatically reads consumption data from connected meters, integrates with the bank and an online payment platform, prints approximately 14,000 bills per month, and sends e-bills and payment confirmations to customers by SMS. Also, NPAK Energy launched new financial software and an ERP system. To operate all these systems, the IT/Billing System Administrator is responsible for administering, maintaining, securing, and optimizing the utility billing system to ensure accurate billing, reliable system performance, data integrity, and uninterrupted business operations.

Role and  Responsibilities

The core responsibilities of the IT/Billing Systems Administrator include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Administer, maintain, and support the Company’s IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, user devices, operating systems, and business applications
  • Ensure the availability, security, and reliable operation of all IT systems and services.
  • Manage user accounts, access rights, email services, and IT assets in accordance with Company policies.
  • Administer the Company’s Billing Management System (BMS) from an IT perspective, ensuring system availability, user access, backups, and technical support.
  • Coordinate with software vendors, service providers, banks, and other external partners on technical issues, system maintenance, and integrations.
  • Implement, monitor, and maintain integrations between the billing system and third-party platforms, including: Banking systems, Online payment gateways, SMS notification platforms, Customer self-service portals, Metering and AMI systems, ERP and financial systems.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade IT hardware, software, and network equipment.
  • Implement and maintain cybersecurity measures, including antivirus protection, firewalls, system updates, and access controls.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade IT hardware, software, and network equipment.
  • Perform regular system backups and support disaster recovery and business continuity activities.
  • Monitor system performance and recommend improvements to enhance reliability, security, and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain IT documentation, including system configurations, network diagrams, software licenses, and asset inventories.
  • Support the implementation of new IT systems, digital solutions, and business applications as required.
  • Ensure compliance with the Company’s IT policies, data protection requirements, and information security standards.
  • Provide technical support during Company meetings, video conferences, and other ICT-related activities.
  • Perform any other IT-related duties assigned by management.
  • Monitor daily and monthly automated meter reads from the AMI system for completeness and accuracy

Required Skills

Skills and Qualification:

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 3-5 years' experience in system administration, database management, and utility billing systems, ERP, or CRM platforms. Preferred (APIs, banking/payment gateways, SMS gateways).
  • Experience with any other Energy utility billing system.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills; experience working directly with software vendors.
  • Sound understanding of data integrity and user access control principles.
  • Good written and spoken English and Urdu, along with Local Languages.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
  • Strong documentation and process improvement skills
