Job Summary

The Raw Material Store In-charge is responsible for the proper receipt, inspection, storage, issuance, and inventory control of all raw materials used in bakery production. The position ensures that materials are available in the required quantity and quality while maintaining proper hygiene, safety, and stock records.

Roles And Responsibilities:

Receiving Raw Materials

  • Receive raw materials from suppliers according to approved purchase orders and delivery documents.
  • Check the quantity, quality, condition, and expiry dates of received materials.
  • Coordinate with the Quality Control (QC) department for inspection and approval where required.

Storage Management

  • Ensure proper storage of flour, sugar, yeast, oil, butter, eggs, packaging materials, and other bakery ingredients.
  • Maintain appropriate storage conditions, cleanliness, and hygiene.
  • Apply the FIFO (First In, First Out) and FEFO (First Expiry, First Out) principles.

Material Issuance

  • Issue raw materials to the production department against approved requisitions.
  • Ensure that the correct quantity and approved materials are issued.
  • Maintain proper records of all material movements.

Inventory Control

  • Maintain accurate stock records, including receipts, issues, balances, and returns.
  • Conduct regular physical stock counts and reconcile them with store records.
  • Report shortages, damages, expired materials, or discrepancies immediately.

Expiry and Quality Monitoring

  • Regularly monitor expiry dates and shelf life of all materials.
  • Separate damaged, expired, or rejected materials from usable stock.
  • Inform management and QC about materials approaching expiry.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain Goods Received Notes (GRNs), stock registers, issue vouchers, and other relevant documents.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly inventory reports.
  • Maintain proper documentation for stock movements and adjustments.

Hygiene and Safety

  • Ensure the raw material store is clean, organized, and pest-free.
  • Follow food safety, hygiene, and workplace safety requirements.
  • Ensure materials are stored safely to prevent contamination or damage.​

Coordination

  • Coordinate with Procurement, Production, Quality Control, and Accounts departments.
  • Inform relevant departments about low stock levels and material requirements.

Required Skills

Skills And Qualifications:

  • Minimum Intermediate / Diploma / Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Inventory Management, Food Technology, or a related field.
  • Relevant experience in raw material stores, preferably in a bakery, food manufacturing, FMCG, or similar industry.
  • Working knowledge of inventory management and stock control procedures.
  • Preferably 2–5 years of experience in a raw material/storekeeping role in a bakery or food manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with ERP/software-based inventory systems will be an advantage.
