Job Summary

Job Description:

The Import Manager is responsible for overseeing the importation of goods and materials, ensuring compliance with local and international regulations, optimizing shipping and customs clearance processes, and coordinating with suppliers, freight forwarders, and internal teams to ensure timely delivery.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the end-to-end import process, including documentation, shipping, customs clearance, and delivery.
  • Ensure all import activities comply with national and international regulations (e.g., customs, trade compliance, HS codes).
  • Liaise with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and shipping lines to track and expedite shipments.
  • Coordinate with internal departments such as procurement, finance, and warehouse to align delivery timelines and documentation.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of all import activities and documentation (invoices, B/L, packing lists, etc.).
  •  Monitor and optimize freight and duty costs.
  • Resolve any issues related to delays, damages, or non-compliance.
  • Maintain knowledge of changes in import/export laws and regulations.
  • Manage relationships with key suppliers and logistics partners.

Required Skills

Skills and Qualification:

  • Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management, International Business, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5–8 years of experience in import/export or international logistics.
  • Strong knowledge of international trade laws, Incoterms, and customs regulations.
  • Proficiency in documentation handling and clearance procedures.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
  • Proficiency in MS Office; experience with ERP or logistics systems is a plus.
