Job Summary

The Hostel Cook is responsible for preparing nutritious, hygienic, and well-balanced meals for hostel residents. The role includes meal planning, food preparation, kitchen cleanliness, stock management, and ensuring food safety standards are maintained at all times.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks according to the approved menu

  • Plan meals in coordination with hostel management

  • Ensure food is prepared in a hygienic and timely manner

  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, utensils, and cooking equipment

  • Monitor food stock levels and inform management when supplies are low

  • Store food properly to prevent spoilage and wastage

  • Follow health and safety regulations in food handling

  • Accommodate special dietary needs where required

  • Supervise kitchen helpers

Required Skills

Skills and Qualification:

  • Proven experience as a cook (experience in hostel/school/mess cooking preferred)

  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards

  • Ability to cook large quantities of food efficiently

  • Good time management skills

  • Ability to work early mornings, weekends, or holidays if required

  • Basic knowledge of stock management
