The Hostel Cook is responsible for preparing nutritious, hygienic, and well-balanced meals for hostel residents. The role includes meal planning, food preparation, kitchen cleanliness, stock management, and ensuring food safety standards are maintained at all times.
Role and Responsibilities:
Prepare breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks according to the approved menu
Plan meals in coordination with hostel management
Ensure food is prepared in a hygienic and timely manner
Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, utensils, and cooking equipment
Monitor food stock levels and inform management when supplies are low
Store food properly to prevent spoilage and wastage
Follow health and safety regulations in food handling
Accommodate special dietary needs where required
Supervise kitchen helpers
Skills and Qualification:
Proven experience as a cook (experience in hostel/school/mess cooking preferred)
Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
Ability to cook large quantities of food efficiently
Good time management skills
Ability to work early mornings, weekends, or holidays if required
Basic knowledge of stock management
