Helper – Elevator Department

Job Summary

PURPOSE

• To support the Elevator Department Supervisor in carrying out routine elevator servicing and attending to complaints, while assisting with day-to-day operational and maintenance activities as required. Provide on-site technical support under the direct supervision of the supervisor to ensure smooth and safe elevator operations.

SCOPE OF WORK AND RESPONSIBILITIES.

Routine Service Support

• Carry tools, materials, and equipment required for elevator service work.
• Assist the supervisor during routine servicing, inspections, and minor adjustments.
• Perform basic cleaning, lubrication, and housekeeping in areas like elevator car tops, machine rooms, and Pits.

Complaint Attendance

• Accompany the supervisor to attend elevator breakdowns and attend to complaints with the supervisor.
• Assist with manual handling during troubleshooting

Immediately report any unusual noise, vibration, or operational irregularities to the supervisor.

• Assist in preparing sites for vendor-executed major repairs.
• Maintain a safe and organized work area during on-site vendor activities.

Duty Location / Sitting Arrangement

• The elevator helper will be based in the warehouse with the supervisor when not attending breakdowns or doing site work. The warehouse will be used for daily duties, coordination, and support activities.

Required Skills

REQUIRED / RECOMMENDED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS.

• Minimum education of Matric. A diploma in Mechanical is preferred.
• Physically fit to work in confined spaces and at heights.
• Ability to handle basic tools safely.
• Ability to follow supervisor’s instructions with discipline and reliability.
• Basic safety awareness, including proper use of PPE.
• Ability to perform manual tasks such as carrying tools, spare parts, and materials
