Job Summary
Aga Khan Education Service, Pakistan (AKES,P) is seeking an accomplished and visionary leader for the position of General Manager, Chitral. This is a strategic leadership role responsible for driving educational excellence, school improvement, operational effectiveness, and stakeholder engagement across the region.
The successful candidate will play a key role in advancing AKES,P's mission, by leading regional educational programs, strengthening school systems, improving student learning outcomes, and supporting the implementation of the organization's long-term strategic priorities.
Roles And Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership for all educational programs and school operations across the Chitral region.
- Lead school improvement initiatives to enhance teaching quality, student achievement, and institutional performance.
- Collaborate closely with Central Office teams across Academics, Quality Assurance, Finance, Human Resources, Monitoring & Evaluation, and Support Services to implement organizational strategies, drive institutional performance, optimize the use of financial, human, and operational resources, and deliver sustainable improvements in educational quality, school effectiveness, and student outcomes across the region.
- Provide strategic oversight of regional budgets, resource allocation, and operational planning to ensure cost-effective delivery of educational services and optimal utilization of financial, human, and institutional resources.
- Ensure effective implementation and compliance with organizational policies, procedures, governance standards, audit requirements, accountability frameworks, and strategic plans.
- Lead the development of high-performing teams through talent management, leadership development, succession planning, mentoring, and staff engagement initiatives.
- Foster a culture that attracts, develops, and retains exceptional educational leaders and professionals while strengthening leadership capacity across schools and regional teams.
- Oversee regional planning, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting processes to drive performance improvement and accountability.
- Monitor regional performance and provide strategic reports, recommendations, and updates to senior leadership regarding educational outcomes, operational effectiveness, financial sustainability, and emerging risks.
- Manage educational, financial, and administrative functions in collaboration with relevant support departments.
- Promote gender equality, diversity, inclusion, and continuous professional development across schools.
- Support organizational governance through policy recommendations, strategic reporting, performance analysis, and executive-level decision-making.
- Build and sustain strategic partnerships with community leaders, government stakeholders, donor organizations, regulatory authorities, and development partners to advance educational outcomes and organizational objectives.
The ideal candidate should possess at least a Master's degree (16 years of education) from an HEC-recognized institution in Education, Educational Leadership, Educational Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Management, Human Resource Management, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or another relevant discipline. A higher qualification, including an MPhil, MS, MBA, or PhD, will be considered an added advantage.
Candidates should have a minimum of 8-10 years of progressively responsible professional experience, including at least 3 years in a senior leadership or management role, preferably within the education, development, public, or not-for-profit sector. Experience in leading geographically dispersed teams, managing complex operations, driving institutional performance, and engaging with multiple stakeholders will be highly desirable.
