Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan is looking for a Dental Assistant for its Karachi Region

Role and  Responsibilities:

Clinical Support:

  • Set up the dental operatory before and after each patient.
  • Assist the dentist during all clinical procedures including restorations, extractions, endodontics, and surgical procedures.
  • Prepare patients for treatment and ensure they are comfortable and informed throughout their visit.
  • Participate in screening camps.

Patient Care & Communication:

  • Maintain a welcoming and supportive environment for patients.
  • Provide pre- and post-operative instructions to patients as directed by the dentist.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of procedures, patient records, and consent forms.
  • Follow up with patients regarding post-procedure care when required.

Administrative & Operational Support:

  • Manage dental inventory including submitting quarterly item request, tracking, and restocking of supplies and materials.
  • Maintain dental equipment and report any malfunction to the supervisor/biomedical department.
  • Schedule patient appointments and manage the patient flow within the clinic.
  • Timely submission of dental floor stock on monthly basis.
  • HMIS data management of consultation and procedures and billing.

Infection Prevention & Control:

  • Strictly adhere to all sterilization and infection control protocols.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards within the dental operatory and sterilization area.
  • Participate in infection control training and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Sterilize the dental operatory before and after each patient.

Required Skills

Qualification & Competencies:

  • Diploma/Certificate in Dental Assisting or relevant health sciences background.
  • Minimum 1 to 2 years of experience as a Dental Assistant preferred
  • Efficient Computer Skills.
  • Strong communication, time management, team collaboration skills.
  • Willingness to travel (if needed for camps or outreach), ability to multitask in a fast-paced setting, and maintain patient confidentiality.
