The Cook Helper assists the kitchen staff in preparing ingredients, maintaining cleanliness, and supporting daily kitchen operations. This role ensures smooth workflow in the kitchen and helps maintain high standards of food quality, hygiene, and safety.
Role and Responsibilities
Assist cooks and chefs with basic food preparation tasks, such as washing, peeling, cutting, and portioning ingredients
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, equipment, and workstations
Ensure proper storage and labeling of food items
Help with plating and assembling dishes during service
Follow food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards
Operate basic kitchen equipment safely
Dispose of waste and manage recycling according to guidelines
Assist in receiving and storing deliveries
Perform other kitchen-related duties as assigned by the Head Cook or Chef
Skills and Qualification:
High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
Previous kitchen or food service experience is an advantage but not required
Basic understanding of food safety and kitchen hygiene practices
Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
Willingness to learn and take on new tasks
Good communication and organizational skills
Ability to stand for long periods
Ability to lift up to 25–50 lbs as needed
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hot, and busy environment
