Job Summary
A Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking food according to established recipes, quality standards, and hygiene requirements while ensuring the kitchen operates efficiently.
Roles And Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook meals according to menus, recipes, and required standards.
- Ensure food is prepared with proper taste, quality, presentation, and portion sizes.
- Prepare ingredients by washing, cutting, chopping, marinating, and measuring as required.
- Maintain proper food handling, storage, and hygiene standards.
- Ensure kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas are clean and properly maintained.
- Monitor food supplies and inform management when ingredients need to be replenished.
- Store food items properly to maintain freshness and prevent contamination.
- Follow health, safety, and food hygiene regulations.
- Minimize food waste and use ingredients efficiently.
- Assist with menu preparation and suggest improvements when required.
- Coordinate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely meal preparation.
- Perform other kitchen-related duties assigned by management.
Required Skills
Skills & Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Cook, Kitchen Assistant, or in a similar role is preferred.
- Relevant culinary training or certification is an advantage.
- Good knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques.
- Ability to prepare a variety of local and international dishes, depending on the organization’s requirements.
- Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation practices.
- Ability to follow recipes, instructions, and portion-control standards.
- Good time-management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a busy kitchen environment.
- Physically fit and able to stand for extended periods.
- Responsible, punctual, disciplined, and able to work as part of a team.
