Job Summary

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to;

  • Assisting publishing manager in day-to-day tasks and project management by keeping track of everything on MS Excel. Checking, improving and finalising books to make them print-ready and performing needed tasks like proofreading with a high degree of accuracy, an eye for consistency, and attention to detail, checking for proper punctuation, syntax, grammar, spelling, usage, and style according to guidelines, correcting factual or grammatical errors.
  • Developing an extensive knowledge of standard printing guidelines and preferences, effectively becoming a resource as the keeper of the brand.
  • Scrutinizing content to eradicate any repetition or unnecessary elaboration.
  • Coordinating with the designers to check if the manager’s suggestions have been rightly incorporated and that the books get composed in the required way.
  • Coordinating for further improvement particularly pertaining to formatting, including heading styles, figure and illustrations, sentence casing, etc.
  • Keeping a record of the department’s documents via maintenance of contracts and copyright documents.
  • Checking tasks are done by composers and designers.
  • Effectively prioritising work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. 

** Shortlisted candidates will be called for a test of their English editing and writing skills.

** The female staff is compensated with a transport stipend.

Required Skills
  • Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field and have an excellent command of written English with a minimum of 1 year of experience in editing, proofreading, and content appropriation to ensure that they deliver grammatically correct and technically sound content, overseeing the layout and appearance of content.
  • Prior experience with design-related work or interest and knowledge of design software is preferred as the projects involve less text and more illustrations or design.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, accurately, and professionally, both verbally and in writing, and be comfortable collaborating with creative, production, and designing teams.
