GENERAL MANAGER – GPS TRACKING & FLEET MANAGEMENT

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

An established GPS Tracking and Fleet Management company, is seeking a highly experienced, results-driven General Manager with a strong Accounting and Finance background.

The company currently employs approximately 25 professionals and is looking for a capable leader to independently oversee business operations, financial performance, staff management, customer relationships, and future growth.

Role and Responsibilities:

General Management & Operations

• Oversee and manage all daily company operations.
• Lead and supervise approximately 25 employees across multiple departments.
• Ensure efficient coordination between sales, technical, installation, finance, and customer service teams.
• Establish operational policies, performance standards, and internal controls.
• Report directly to company ownership.

 Accounting & Financial Management

• Oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, and cash-flow management.
• Monitor profitability, operating expenses, and financial performance.
• Supervise invoicing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and customer collections.
• Ensure timely financial reconciliations and accurate management reports.
• Maintain compliance with  taxation, payroll, and applicable statutory requirements.
• Manage financial planning and cost-control initiatives.

Sales & Business Development

• Develop strategies to increase sales, customer acquisition, and recurring subscription revenue.
• Identify new business opportunities in vehicle tracking, fleet management, and telematics.
• Build relationships with corporate clients, transport operators, logistics businesses, and fleet owners.
• Set sales targets and monitor team performance.
• Develop strategies for customer retention and revenue growth.

Technical & Customer Service Oversight

• Supervise GPS installation, technical support, maintenance, and service operations.
• Ensure installations and customer requests are completed efficiently.
• Monitor GPS subscription renewals, service performance, and customer satisfaction.
• Coordinate with technical managers and suppliers to maintain service quality.

Leadership & Administration

• Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate employees.
• Establish departmental KPIs and accountability measures.
• Manage employee performance, discipline, and professional development.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and Tanzanian employment regulations.
• Present monthly financial, operational, and performance reports to ownership.

 

Required Skills

Skills and Qualification:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Accounting & Finance, or an equivalent accounting-focused qualification — mandatory.
• Minimum 7 years of professional experience, including at least 3 years in a senior management position.
• Proven experience managing business operations, staff, budgets, and financial performance.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial controls, and cash-flow management.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, ideally comprising 20 or more employees.
• Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Tally, SAP, or other ERP systems.
• Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• High standards of professional integrity, accountability, and confidentiality.
• PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• CPA(T), ACCA, CA, MBA, or equivalent professional qualification.
• Previous experience as a General Manager, Operations Manager, Country Manager, or Finance & Operations Manager.
• Experience in GPS tracking, fleet management, telecommunications, logistics, automotive technology, or IT services.
• Previous employment experience in Tanzania or other East African countries.
• Familiarity with  taxation, employment regulations, and commercial business practices.
• Working knowledge of Kiswahili would be an advantage.
