Job Summary

The Cashier is responsible for handling all financial transactions efficiently and accurately while providing excellent customer service to members and clients of the Cooperative Society. The role involves managing cash receipts, disbursements, maintaining financial records, and ensuring compliance with the organization’s financial procedures.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Receive and process cash, cheque, and digital payments from members/customers
  • Issue receipts and maintain accurate transaction records
  • Handle daily cash balancing and ensure reconciliation at the end of each shift
  • Maintain proper documentation of all financial transactions
  • Assist in preparing basic financial reports as required
  • Ensure safe custody of cash and report any discrepancies immediately
  • Provide courteous and professional service to customers
  • Support other administrative and financial tasks assigned by management

Required Skills

Skills and Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience as a cashier or in a similar financial role
  • Advance knowledge of accounting principles and cash handling procedures
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Familiarity with accounting software and MS Office (especially Excel) is an advantage
  • High level of integrity, honesty, and attention to detail
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage time effectively
