Job Summary

Background: Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan (AKHS, P) runs one of the largest not-for-profit private healthcare systems in the country, with a focus on the regions of Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, and Sindh. Its core focus includes initiatives for hard-to-reach populations through services like outreach clinics, training of community midwives to provide low-cost health services in remote areas, screening for non-communicable diseases, and digital health solutions.

Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan is looking for competent Biomedical Engineer based at Aga Khan Hospital, Gilgit.  

Role and Responsibilities

Equipment Management

  • Installs, inspects, and commissions biomedical equipment.
  • Maintains inventory of all medical devices and equipment.
  • Ensures proper documentation of equipment history (installation, maintenance, repairs).

Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Performs preventive and corrective maintenance of medical equipment.
  • Diagnoses faults and carries out repairs in a timely manner.
  • Coordinates with vendors for specialized repairs and servicing.

Calibration & Quality Assurance

  • Ensures regular calibration of equipment as per standards.
  • Implement quality control procedures for medical devices.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards (e.g., ISO, SafeCare and hospital policies).

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensures equipment meets safety standards and is safe for patient use.
  • Monitors and reports incidents related to equipment failure.
  • Ensures adherence to infection control and safety protocols.

Training & Support

  • Trains healthcare staff on proper use and handling of equipment.
  • Provides technical support to clinical departments.

Procurement & Evaluation

  • Assists in selection and procurement of biomedical equipment.
  • Evaluates technical specifications and vendor proposals.
  • Participates in equipment trials and acceptance testing.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintains maintenance logs, service reports, and calibration records.
  • Prepares periodic reports on equipment status and performance.

 

Required Skills

Education, Experience & Competencies

  • BS degree in Biomedical Engineering from reputed university
  • 2 years relevant professional experience preferably in health care institution
  • Possesses adequate professional knowledge and practical skills of his/her job.
  • He /she has the ability to handle complex tasks and to meet challenges.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
