The Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan (AKHS, P) is seeking an experienced Aya reporting to the Sr. Support & Facility Management Officer.

Summary of the Role

The Aya provides basic care and support to patients, children, and people with disabilities by assisting with personal hygiene, nutrition, toileting, and maintaining a clean and safe environment. The role supports nurses and other staff in delivering compassionate and respectful care while following hygiene, safeguarding, quality, and safety standards.

Roles And Responsibilities

• Provides basic care and support to patients, children, and people with disabilities.
• Assist patients and children with personal hygiene, including bathing, changing clothes, and handwashing.
• Assists with toileting and maintains appropriate personal hygiene.
• Assists in the preparation and distribution of meals while following food hygiene and safety practices.
• Maintains cleanliness and hygiene of rooms, beds, patient-care areas, and the health centre.
• Cleans and disinfects used items and relevant areas in accordance with hygiene and infection prevention practices.
• Supports nurses and other relevant staff in arranging, carrying, and transporting supplies and equipment.
• Follows instructions provided by nurses and designated responsible personnel.
• Promotes a safe, clean, and supportive environment for patients and children.
• Provides care and support with courtesy, respect, compassion, and empathy.
• Comply with the AKHS Code of Conduct and institutional safeguarding principles in all dealings.
• Considers institutional Net-Zero targets and plans while carrying out responsibilities. Adheres to AKHS quality assurance protocols, SafeCare, and ISO 9001:2015 standards to support patient safety, service quality, and continuous improvement.

• No formal educational qualification is required.
• Ability to work with kindness, patience, and compassion.
• Basic knowledge of hygiene, sanitation, and cleanliness practices.
• Basic skills in caring for children and patients.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team, with punctuality and a strong sense of responsibility.
• Good manners and effective communication skills.
• Ability to follow instructions and established procedures.
