Job Summary

The Aga Khan Education Service, Pakistan (AKES, Pakistan), an institution of the Aga Khan Development Network, provides educational access to over 61000 + students through more than 156 schools and 6 hostels.

AKES, Pakistan (Central) invites applications from eligible and interested candidates to fill the position.

The MEP Engineer shall be responsible for the planning, design review, coordination, supervision, and implementation of Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP), Fire Protection, and associated building services works for new construction, rehabilitation, renovation, maintenance, and facility improvement projects across the region.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Developing MEP designs & briefs and technical requirements for capital projects, rehabilitation works, renovations, and maintenance activities.
  • Design & Review and evaluate MEP designs, drawings, calculations, specifications, BOQs, and technical submissions.
  • Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, consultants, contractors, and regional teams.
  • Conduct site surveys and condition assessments of existing facilities.
  • Assist in preparing budgets, cost estimates, and cost breakdowns for MEP systems.
  • Supervise installation, testing, commissioning, and handover of HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, Solar Power, and Low Current systems.
  • Monitor project progress to ensure compliance with approved designs, specifications, quality standards, budgets, and schedules.
  • Review shop drawings, material submittals, and contractor proposals.
  • Verify MEP As-Built Drawings and O&M Manuals.
  • Assist in project planning and scheduling using MS Project or similar software.
  • Provide technical support during tendering processes and bid evaluations.
  • Review contractor IPCs, variation orders, and claims related to MEP works.
  • Monitor energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and AKDN/AKESP requirements.
  • Support preventive and corrective maintenance activities for existing facilities.
  • Ensure implementation of all MEP-related safety requirements.
  • Prepare technical reports, inspection reports, and project documentation.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by management.
  • The role may require extensive travel to project locations including Islamabad, Sindh Gilgit-Baltistan, and Chitral.

Required Skills

Skills and Qualification:

  • The ideal candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechatronics Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in MEP design, supervision, rehabilitation, maintenance, and construction projects.
  • The individual should have Strong knowledge of HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Protection Systems, BOQ Preparation, Cost Estimation, MS Project, AutoCAD, and Documentation.
