Job Summary

As the Assistant Manager, Budget & Grants, you will be the junior-most team member, directly responsible for executing day-to-day financial operations—budgeting, accounting, reconciliations, and reporting—along with administrative support including procurement, asset management, and logistics. This is a hands-on role requiring diligence, accuracy, and strong execution.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in due diligence of budgets, fundraising, investments, CAPEX, and programme proposals, and preparing recommendations.
  • Supporting financial planning, accounting, reporting, controls, and system implementation.
  • Processing payments, receipts, vouchers, and reconciliations; ensuring compliance with policies and approvals.
  • Managing disbursements, cash requests, petty cash, and maintaining proper documentation and filing.
  • Preparing periodic closings (monthly/quarterly/annual), forecasts, and assisting with annual budgets.
  • Monitoring advances, payables, receivables, and maintaining the fixed asset register.
  • Handling procurement, office supplies, utilities, and facilities.
  • Providing logistical and administrative support (travel, events, meetings, maintenance).
  • Performing any other task assigned by supervisors.

This role is well-suited for a detail-oriented self-starter who is willing to learn, work hard, and contribute directly to the team’s outputs.

Required Skills

Skills and Qualification:

  • CA/ACCA/CIMA/ICMA or MBA (Finance/Accounting) from a recognized institution.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in finance and administration, preferably in the development sector.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks).
  • Knowledge of procurement, reconciliations, and administrative procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail, number-crunching ability, and integrity in handling financial data.
  • Excellent organizational, follow-up, and problem-solving skills; ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative approach.
