Job Summary

AKICT seeks a qualified and proactive Architect to serve as an in-house technical resource, responsible for coordinating with external consultants (architectural, structural, MEP) and ensuring that all designs, drawings, and submissions comply with applicable regulatory requirements and project objectives. The role requires strong design review capability, regulatory knowledge, and effective stakeholder coordination across multiple projects.

 

Role and Responsibilities

Design Review & Coordination

  • Review architectural, structural, and MEP drawings for completeness, accuracy, and integration.
  • Ensure alignment of design with project brief, functional requirements, and cost considerations.
  • Coordinate with external consultants to resolve design conflicts and optimize layouts.
  • Monitor design progress and ensure timely submission of deliverables.
  • Review and approval of samples in consultation with consultants   

Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with applicable building regulations and by-laws, including those of Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA), Capital Development Authority (CDA), Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA), Lahore Development Authority (LDA), and other relevant bodies.
  • Review and facilitate approval documentation, submissions, and NOCs.
  • Excellent regulatory knowledge including building regulations and by-laws
  • Keep updated with changes in building codes, zoning regulations, and development guidelines.

Project Documentation & Approvals

  • Develop design briefs, feasibility reports, and concept proposals.
  • Verify drawings for submission to regulatory authorities.
  • Maintain proper documentation and version control of drawings and approvals.

Site Coordination & Monitoring

  • Conduct periodic site visits to ensure construction is in accordance with approved drawings and specifications.
  • Coordinate with contractors and consultants to address on-site design and execution issues.
  • Ensure quality standards and design intent are maintained during execution.

Stakeholder Management

  • Act as liaison between AKICT and external consultants, contractors, and authorities.
  • Participate in design and progress meetings; prepare minutes and follow-ups.
  • Provide technical input to management for decision-making.

Value Engineering & Cost Awareness

  • Review designs for cost efficiency and suggest value engineering options without compromising quality.
  • Assist in aligning design with project budgets and timelines.

  • Reports to: [Head of Projects / CEO as applicable]

Required Skills

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture (B.Arch.) from a recognized institution.
  • Registered with relevant professional body. Registered with SBCA/KDA/LDA/CDA/RDA is an added advantage.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in leading Firms, in architectural design and coordination.
  • Strong understanding of local building regulations and approval processes.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and MS Office.
  • Good communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work under deadlines.
