Roles and Responsibilities
Manage and oversee all accounting activities related to import operations
Supervise accounting staff handling import transactions
Coordinate with banks, clearing agents, suppliers, and internal departments
Monitor foreign payments and currency transactions
Ensure compliance with company policies and import regulations
Report import financial performance to management
Review and verify supplier invoices, freight charges, customs duties, and related expenses
Ensure accurate landed cost calculation and cost allocation
Process LC documentation and TT payments accurately and on time
Reconcile foreign supplier accounts and bank statements
Ensure timely payment of customs duties, taxes, and other import charges
Maintain complete and organized documentation for audit purposes
Prepare monthly import cost reports and financial summaries
Identify and resolve discrepancies in import-related financial records
Skills and Qualification
Strong knowledge of import accounting procedures and documentation
Practical experience handling Letters of Credit (LC), bank guarantees, and foreign remittances
Sound understanding of customs regulations, duties, and import tax requirements
Familiarity with international trade terms (Incoterms) and foreign currency transactions
Experience coordinating with banks, clearing agents, and overseas suppliers
Ability to prepare and review import-related financial reports
Strong financial control and cost monitoring abilities
Expertise in landed cost calculation and expense allocation
Accurate reconciliation of supplier accounts and bank statements
Proficiency in ERP systems and MS Excel
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Good leadership and team coordination abilities
Excellent organizational and time management skills
High attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
