Job Summary
The Academic Associate plays a vital role in fostering academic excellence among boarders. The position involves closely monitoring and supporting students’ academic progress, liaising with teachers and parents, and ensuring effective implementation of learning plans. This role also requires active participation in professional development and maintaining open communication with the Superintendent Academics for efficient management and coordination of responsibilities.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Student Academic Support:
- Provide subject-specific academic assistance to boarders, catering to their individual needs.
- Conduct one-on-one or small group sessions to address learning gaps and strengthen understanding.
- Develop and implement personalized academic plans for students to achieve set performance targets.
Coordination and Assessment:
- Regularly coordinate with teachers to identify students’ academic strengths and areas of improvement.
- Observe and assess boarders’ progress and recommend strategies for improvement.
- Collaborate with teachers and parents to set realistic academic goals and track achievement.
Progress Monitoring and Reporting:
- Maintain detailed academic records and progress reports for each boarder.
- Share periodic updates with the Superintendent Academics regarding individual and collective student performance.
- Identify and address specific academic challenges faced by students promptly.
Homework and Assignment Management:
- Monitor and review homework diaries daily, ensuring students’ complete assigned tasks.
- Address feedback from teachers and guide students in improving their performance.
- Ensure assignments, projects, and homework are completed accurately and on time.
Extracurricular Academic Activities:
- Plan and organize academic events such as quizzes, competitions, and workshops.
- Foster a learning environment that encourages creativity and active participation in co-curricular activities.
Professional Development and Meetings:
- Attend all professional development sessions, workshops, or training organized by the Academic Department.
- Participate in meetings convened by the Academic Department to discuss updates, strategies, and academic goals.
- Stay informed about the latest educational practices to enhance teaching and learning outcomes.
Regular Review of Work:
- Conduct weekly reviews of students’ notebooks, assignments, and academic materials.
- Ensure corrections are made and coordinate with class teachers to address any gaps or errors.
- Encourage neatness, accuracy, and completeness in students’ work.
Motivation and Mentorship:
- Act as a mentor to boarders, fostering a positive and supportive academic environment.
- Motivate students to develop good study habits and achieve consistent academic performance.
Administrative Duties:
- Prepare and maintain documentation, reports, and academic records as required.
- Assist in planning and coordinating academic initiatives or special projects.
- Ensure smooth execution of assigned administrative tasks under the guidance of the Superintendent Academics.
Skills Development and Behavioral :
- Support the development of students' interpersonal and academic skills, including communication, time management, and problem-solving.
- Monitor, correct, and enhance students’ ethical behavior and mannerisms, ensuring they align with the school’s values and expectations.
Required Skills
Skills and Qualification:
- The ideal candidate must have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Science or English, along with a B.Ed. or M.Ed.
- The candidate must have 2–3 years of experience as a teacher and possess strong communication, leadership, and management skills.
