Job Summary

  • Monitor, clinically examine and follow study newborns and provide support in their clinical care in collaboration with hospital staff
  • Assist the physician in adequate airway management to include oxygen therapy, nebulization and suctioning including mechanical ventilation and CPAP based on physician orders
  • Provide safe environment for patients through adherence to infection control practices and other safety policies
  • Perform timely safety checks on incubators, IV pumps, oxygen source, ventilators, cardiac monitors and glucometers
  • Care for equipment through proper cleaning, storage, per shift check of the inventory and timely
  • Administration of study treatment through intramuscular route following safe injection practices to enrolled pregnant females
  • Keep good liaison and healthy working relationships with on duty doctors/hospital staff and management and follow hospital rules and regulation
  • Participate in unit based nursing education, quality improvement sessions, audits, spot checks and skill checks
  • Do multiple shifts duties (morning, evening, and nights) and remain flexible in working at all AKU secondary hospitals

Required Skills
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Midwifery or RN/BSCN 
  • Relevant work experience in neonatology and obstetric care. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • The ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • The resilience and ability to cope under pressure.
