Monitor, clinically examine and follow study newborns and provide support in their clinical care in collaboration with hospital staff
Assist the physician in adequate airway management to include oxygen therapy, nebulization and suctioning including mechanical ventilation and CPAP based on physician orders
Provide safe environment for patients through adherence to infection control practices and other safety policies
Perform timely safety checks on incubators, IV pumps, oxygen source, ventilators, cardiac monitors and glucometers
Care for equipment through proper cleaning, storage, per shift check of the inventory and timely
Administration of study treatment through intramuscular route following safe injection practices to enrolled pregnant females
Keep good liaison and healthy working relationships with on duty doctors/hospital staff and management and follow hospital rules and regulation
Participate in unit based nursing education, quality improvement sessions, audits, spot checks and skill checks
Do multiple shifts duties (morning, evening, and nights) and remain flexible in working at all AKU secondary hospitals
Required Skills
A Bachelor’s degree in Midwifery or RN/BSCN
Relevant work experience in neonatology and obstetric care.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
The ability to follow oral and written instructions
The resilience and ability to cope under pressure.
