Overview

Northern Pakistan Energy Limited (NPAK Energy), a subsidiary of Industrial Promotion Service (IPS) of the Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development (AKFED), operates based on a 30-year Concession Agreement signed with the Government of Gilgit-Baltistan (GB). Responding to the GB government’s request, NPAK Energy will develop the energy system to supply clean, reliable, and affordable electricity for all of Hunza as well as demonstrate the applicability and relevance of a regionally proven model for the operation of an integrated utility company in Pakistan. It builds on the successful PPP solutions implemented by AKFED in both Tajikistan and Afghanistan, through NPAK Energy’s sister companies, Pamir Energy and Badakhshon Energy.

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Relay Protection & Automation Officer to support the operation, maintenance, testing, and commissioning of protection, control, automation, and SCADA systems for substations and power generation facilities operating at 11 kV, 33 kV, and 66 kV.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and troubleshoot relay protection systems for substations and power stations.
  • Configure and test protection relays and control systems.
  • Assist in protection coordination studies and relay settings calculations.
  • Support commissioning, maintenance, and fault investigation activities.
  • Monitor and maintain transformer, feeder, generator, motor, and busbar protection schemes.
  • Support operation and maintenance of switchgear and circuit breakers.
  • Maintain generator excitation systems and Automatic Voltage Regulators (AVR).
  • Support Substation Automation Systems (SAS), RTUs, and SCADA integration.
  • Prepare technical reports, protection records, and maintenance documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and engineering standards.

Required Skills

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in relay protection and automation systems.
  • Experience with substations and power stations operating at 11 kV, 33 kV, and 66 kV.
  • Knowledge of protection principles, testing, and commissioning procedures.
  • Experience with SCADA systems and communication protocols.
