Job Summary

The Manager Operations will work in close coordination with the senior management of the organization to oversee operations in the Regions. S/he will be responsible to provide leadership and cohesion in developing strategies for the smooth implementation of various programs designed by various Community Boards and National Council. S/he will be helping to mobilize the available human and programmatic resources, identifying and helping to realize the potential synergies between institutions, and engendering a collegiate and collaborative approach amongst all Jamati Boards. S/he will liaise with various community Institutions for coordination and collaboration to create impact at the ground level.  The position will report to the Program Coordinator and will be based in Karachi, with frequent travels across the Country.

  • Supervise and Support Regional Operation Managers (ROMs) to ensure seamless council operations at all levels.
  • Ensure budget compliance and efficiency in operations, and develop annual budgets in coordination with finance and Regional Managers / Institutions
  • Develop implementation plans with the Regional Operations Manager (ROM) / Institutions to ensure that the objectives of the strategies developed are realized in time, with the desired quality and intended outcome and impact; and track progress against the plans.
  • Work in liaison with Program Coordinator to ensure coordination and synergies among institutions for the execution and implementation of programs, where possible.
  • Strengthen communications and proper coordination between the National, Regional and Local boards/portfolios in the planning, execution and monitoring of programs while ensuring synergies, mutual understanding and collaboration at all levels.
  • Develop tools and provide direction to ROM for the execution and implementation of programs along with day-to-day operations.
  • In line with the strategic direction from the EO and/or Office Bearers, provide support for different poverty alleviation initiatives in the Regions.
  • Ensure optimal use of resources and, for such purpose, coordinate with the ROMs in attaining their respective annual objectives, corresponding strategies and implementation of their respective programmes.
  • Ensure that system and processes are in place for database management in order to properly track all aspects of each program.
  • Prepare and consolidate, monthly and periodic analytical reports on programs and other Interventions.
  • Ensure shared services at the regional level with respect to programmes within the Jamati Institutions.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of the ongoing program deliverables and develop a strategic approach in consultation with the EO for measuring overall program impacts and to develop improved methods.
  • Build capacities of ROMs and provide mentorship in attaining their respective annual KPIs.
  • Perform any other related tasks assigned by the PC, EO or the Office Bearers from time to time.

Required Skills

Professional Experience

  • Candidate should have developed professionally through progressively responsible management experience of at least 3 - 5 years in a complex setting in a medium / large organization, especially with a hands-on experience of handling international donor financed projects. Experience of community institutions and voluntary experience would be an added asset.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure, attention to details and ability to meet stringent deadlines and work well in teams.

Skills and Attitudes

  • Demonstrated ability to build strong, supportive, and collaborative working relationships with internal team members and the leaders and stakeholders.

  • Experience in developing technical reports project proposals, and presentations.
  • Experience in setting, attaining, and/or measuring performance indicators and outcomes.
  • Experience in working with databases and analyzing data.
  • Comfort with public speaking in front of small groups and wider audiences.
  • Proficiency in MS Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and MS Project.
  • Experience in preparing programmatic budgets and key deliverables with programmatic approach.

Academic Credentials

  • A Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Economics, Administration, Management or in related discipline with minimum 3 - 5 years of relevant work experience in social, public or corporate sector.
  • Professional qualification in project management, data analysis or social science would be an asset.

Language Proficiency

  • Strong communication skills in English and Urdu (both oral and written); ability to understand regional languages will be an added advantage.

Travel and Schedule

  • Willingness to work beyond normal working hours and travel within and outside assigned district.
  • Only candidates working in Karachi for minimum of past 2 years and falling in the above criteria will be shortlisted
